Interim Associate Minister
Is the Spirit calling you to explore new opportunities for ministry? Do you have a desire to be on the cutting edge of a new initiative in Church development and be a pioneer in creating a new model for ministry in the United Church of Christ? If so, the Eastern Ohio and Western Reserve Associations of the Ohio Conference invite you to consider whether God is calling you to embark on a bold mission to help our two Associations re-imagine the way we do ministry, individually and together. We are looking for an Associations General Minister to partner with us as we explore and implement a new model of collaborative ministry and mission that will energize us to better meet the changing needs of our churches and clergy in a post-modern world. In addition to the support of the Associations, the person we're seeking will have the opportunity to configure and hire program staff to complement their gifts and abilities. Associations General Minister
In the remaining months before a General Minister is called to serve the Eastern Ohio and Western Reserve Associations, the Interim Associate Minister will work collegially with the staff team with Acting Association Minister, Richard Plant, as team leader.
Three Quarter Time Position
Anticipated Starting Date: April 19
Qualifications: Authorized Minister in the United Church of Christ
Responsibilities:
Search and Call (shared)
Work with individual churches in transition and search committees
Work with interim support group
Work with Church and Ministry Department (shared)
Staff Ministry Support and Covenant Support Working Groups
Meet with Congregational Vitality Team (shared)
Work with Church in the World Department and its working groups as determined
Respond to requests for assistance from local churches (shared)
Represent Association at local church events and worship as requested
Assume other duties as negotiated
Report to Association Council
Attend Staff Meetings
$54,000 (salary, housing, pension, health insurance, divided at Interim Associate Minister's discretion.
Mileage: at IRS rate
Vacation: four weeks annually; eligible for vacation after the first six months
